Russia announces opening of humanitarian corridors in Ukraine

Russia says it will open humanitarian corridors to allow the evacuation of civilians from several Ukrainian cities experiencing heavy fighting, including the capital Kyiv and the besieged port city of Mariupol, according to Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Igor Konashenkov. Ukraine has dismissed Moscow’s offer to create the humanitarian corridors after it emerged that exit routes would lead refugees into Russia or Belarus.
